Dinamarca investe 2.3 milhões em investigação na cultura

The culture minister, Marianne Jelved, has announced that her ministry has earmarked 17.4 million kroner for culture research.

The ministry has chosen to completely or partially fund 34 research projects ranging from research by museums and cultural institutions to research in the area of sports.

“I am particularly pleased about the scope and the geographic diversity of the projects,” Jelved said in a press release.

“From a project about a threatened fish species, the houting, at the Fisheries and Maritime Museum in Esbjerg, to a project about the health and social effects of team-sport exercise at Copenhagen University, they are all important for the development of our knowledge.”

Museums in the mix
Jelved went on to reveal that this year is the first year that state-recognised museums have been able to apply for the funding, which resulted in 86 applications.

The research funding pool is financed by 10.9 million kroner from the cultural distribution agreement and 6.5 million kroner from the budget agreement for 2014.

The next application deadline for culture research funding is May 2015.
